Focusing on historical preservation and community spirit, the narrative recounts John Rock's efforts to restore the American flag on Crab Island, a significant site from the War of 1812. Alongside his brother, Commander Michael Rock, and a dedicated group of volunteers known as "Friends of Crab Island," they repaired the flagpole and installed grave markers to honor fallen soldiers. Their work culminates in a memorial event each September 11th, commemorating the anniversary of the Battle of Plattsburgh and paying tribute to American sacrifices.
