More about the book
Established in 1706, Urbanna is one of America's oldest English-settled towns, created under the Act of Cohabitation. Named after Queen Anne of England, it served as a tobacco inspection port during colonial times and faced invasions during the Revolutionary War, War of 1812, and Civil War. Post-Civil War, the town's economy shifted to oyster harvesting from the Rappahannock River, leading to the famous Urbanna Oyster Festival, which attracts over 60,000 visitors annually, celebrating its rich maritime heritage.
