The narrative follows a Cornish man's extraordinary journey after a shipwreck near the South Pole, leading him through a subterranean cavern to a fantastical new world. There, he encounters a flying woman whom he saves and marries. The book intricately describes the customs and laws of the flying inhabitants, known as glums and gawrys, as well as the protagonist's remarkable experiences among them. Enhanced with illustrations, it also includes an introduction detailing his journey back to England and his eventual demise in 1739.
