After serving in the Second Boer War, he turned to writing to alleviate financial struggles, producing notable works like "The Four Just Men" and "Sanders of the River." His journalism, particularly on Belgian atrocities in the Congo, influenced his storytelling. In 1931, he transitioned to Hollywood as a scriptwriter for RKO, working on "King Kong" before his untimely death from diabetes. Wallace's remarkable output led to claims that he authored a significant portion of England's books.
