More about the book
Born into a wealthy family and educated at prestigious institutions, Algernon Charles Swinburne emerged as a prominent literary figure in the 1860s with his verse dramas and the acclaimed "Atalanta in Calydon." Known for his intense lyricism and complex rhythms, he faced notoriety for his bold themes. Despite declining popularity and personal struggles, including alcoholism and health issues, he produced significant literary criticism and poetry. His later years were marked by a restrictive friendship that preserved his life but stifled his creativity, culminating in his death in 1909.
