More about the book
The study investigates antibiotic susceptibility in 21 patients with pyogenic skin infections, revealing that only four samples were quinolone-susceptible. Notably, some quinolone-resistant strains were also methicillin-resistant, with a predominance of gram-positive isolates. Plasmid isolation was successful in 8 out of 17 clinical isolates, including a unique quinolone-susceptible but methicillin-resistant strain. These plasmids displayed distinct patterns when digested with specific enzymes, and transformation experiments showed that six samples conferred quinolone resistance to sensitive E. coli cells.
