Oral histories from veterans of three U.S. regiments illuminate their experiences during the Normandy invasion on June 6, 1944. The 507th Parachute Infantry Regiment, despite being scattered, played a crucial role in halting an SS division, yet remains largely overlooked. The 116th Infantry Regiment faced the highest casualties on Omaha Beach, transforming from a mocked unit to frontline heroes. Meanwhile, the 22nd Infantry Regiment, with a storied history, landed on Utah Beach and engaged in fierce battles to secure strategic positions.
