More about the book

Margaret Oliphant Wilson's life was marked by both literary success and profound personal tragedy. Beginning her writing career in her early twenties, she published several novels and contributed to Blackwood's Magazine. After marrying Frank Wilson Oliphant and facing the loss of three children and her husband's death from tuberculosis, she became the sole provider for her family through her writing. Despite her prolific output, she endured further heartbreak with the deaths of her remaining children. Her health declined, leading to her death at 69, leaving a legacy of resilience in the face of adversity.
