The story follows Jack, who faced profound loss at a young age with the death of his father, a police officer, and his mother to cancer. In search of purpose and direction, he enrolls in college's ROTC program and ultimately volunteers for a tour in Afghanistan as a lieutenant, navigating the challenges of grief, duty, and resilience in the face of adversity.
