More about the book
The book delves into Brahms' creation of his first volume of choral-waltzes, composed in August 1869, drawing from German folk poetry. Notably, he chose a piano duet accompaniment instead of the traditional solo piano. The initial performance took place in Heidelberg later that year, leading to its release as Op.52. Additionally, conductor Ernst Rudorff influenced Brahms to orchestrate the accompaniment for several selections, which were performed at a concert in Berlin in March 1870.
