The Evolution of European Identities

Focusing on the disconnect between ordinary citizens and European institutions, this book analyzes in-depth interviews to explore the formation of European identities. It examines how various groups, including participants in educational exchanges, transnational workers, activists, and migrants, perceive their European identity in the twenty-first century. By linking conceptual findings to real-life experiences, it offers valuable insights into the evolving sense of belonging within the 'European mental space' and highlights the challenges faced in fostering a collective European identity.
