More about the book
Harrie Irving Hancock, a Massachusetts-born chemist and journalist, gained recognition for his juvenile adventure stories featuring male heroes, often set in historical or military contexts. A war correspondent during the Spanish-American War, he also explored themes of sports and physical fitness in his writings. Although he admired Japanese martial arts like Jiu-Jitsu, his works reflect problematic racial stereotypes, particularly towards Germans and Chinese characters. Hancock's prolific output includes numerous books and articles, primarily written under his own name.
