The Liberia-EU relation and development cooperation. Another Western washed template?

Focusing on the analysis of Development Cooperation agreements between Liberia and the EU, this paper explores how EU development aid policy may perpetuate global power imbalances in Liberia. It includes an advisory report from Human Rights Watch urging the European Commission to reassess its strategies. Theoretical frameworks, including legal foundations and concepts of postcolonialism and resilience, are presented to contextualize the investigation of the Liberia-EU relationship, particularly through the Cotonou agreement and the National Indicative Programme.
