More about the book
The dissertation evaluates the use of polymeric micelles made from biocompatible materials as sustained release nanocarriers for amphotericin B (AmB). It highlights that PEG-phospholipid micelles effectively prevent AmB-induced toxicity and demonstrate stable drug incorporation in vitro. However, AmB dissociates quickly in serum albumin, which is a concern for in vivo applications. The inclusion of cholesterol enhances micelle stability and slows AmB release, suggesting potential for prolonged circulation. Overall, PEG-DSPE micelles offer a promising alternative for AmB delivery, especially in combination therapies.
