House of the Red Fish

Set in 1943 Hawaii, the story follows Tomi, a Japanese American boy whose family faces suspicion and hostility in the wake of Pearl Harbor. With his father and grandfather still imprisoned, Tomi clings to hope by attempting to raise his father's sunken fishing boat, viewing it as a symbol of faith in their return. His quest is fraught with challenges, yet it also leads to the discovery of unexpected allies who support him in this seemingly impossible endeavor, highlighting themes of resilience and community amidst adversity.
