More about the book
The life of Fred Merrick White, born in 1859, reflects a journey from a solicitor's clerk to a prolific author, marked by personal and historical upheaval. After his father's imprisonment in the late 1880s, White turned to writing, achieving success as a journalist and novelist by 1891. His works often featured imaginative science and adventurous plots, with the First World War deeply influencing his writing, particularly in "The Seed of Empire." He spent his later years in Devon, where he continued to write until his death in 1935.
