Palm Trees of the Amazon and their Uses

Focusing on his travels in South America, this work details Alfred Russel Wallace's observations of palm trees in the Amazon and their various uses. During his four-year exploration of the Rio Negra, he documented the diverse peoples, languages, geography, and the rich flora and fauna of the region. These experiences not only enriched his understanding of natural history but also influenced his thoughts on evolution, ultimately leading to his co-development of the theory of natural selection alongside Charles Darwin.
