The story follows a young Czech gymnast and her trapeze-artist parents living in a cramped apartment. Their lives take a turn when Senior Mercado, owner of Circus Mercado, offers to buy Kari's contract due to her celebrity status. He devises a plan to smuggle her aboard a circus ship in a trunk. However, upon arriving in Mexico, Kari's parents become entangled with the drug cartel, facing threats that force them to transport illegal drugs back to their homeland in exchange for money.
