More about the book
The McDonnell F3H Demon fighter, designed to replace the F2H Banshee, served in the U.S. Navy for nearly a decade, notably during the Cuban Missile Crisis. While it lacked supersonic capabilities, it excelled as an all-weather interceptor, operating alongside the F8U Crusader and F11F Tiger. Equipped with four 20mm cannons and capable of firing Sidewinder and Sparrow missiles, over 500 units were produced. Pilots nicknamed it "The Chair" for its high-visibility cockpit, but also referred to it as the "lead sled" due to its inadequate power-to-weight ratio before being replaced by the F-4 Phantom in 1964.
