The story follows Jessica Jenkins, an ordinary teen who unexpectedly becomes partially invisible during class. As her friends Izzy and Tom support her in mastering this new ability, they uncover that other kids are experiencing strange powers as well. Jessica leads them to form a mismatched group of "slightly superheroes." However, when a villain learns about their powers and kidnaps a member, the group must unite their talents to rescue their friend and confront the looming threat.
