More about the book
Set against the backdrop of 17th-century England, the book explores the creation of the Westminster Catechism during the Long Parliament's Westminster Assembly. Initially tasked to Herbert Palmer, the project faced criticism from Scottish delegates, leading to the formation of a committee. Ultimately, the Assembly produced two distinct versions: the Shorter Catechism for beginners and the Larger Catechism for deeper understanding. Completed in 1647, it gained significant acceptance, being adopted by the Church of Scotland and later by Presbyterian bodies in America.
