The narrative follows Tom Bergmann, an Australian Infantry soldier, as he navigates the challenges of returning home from Vietnam amidst societal rejection. Driven by a desire to support fellow veterans, he helps establish a community that acquires a disused farm near Sydney, transforming it into a sanctuary called The Funny Farm. Alongside his Vietnamese partner, Van, Tom expands their outreach, seeking out isolated veterans to offer them connection and support, highlighting themes of camaraderie, healing, and resilience in the face of adversity.
