More about the book
The examination of personal fables reveals their complex role in adolescent smoking behavior, particularly in relation to the Trans-Theoretical Model of behavior change. The study finds that ex-smokers possess stronger personal fable beliefs than non-smokers, while pre-contemplators exhibit higher beliefs than contemplators, indicating that personal fables may hinder progression in the Stage of Change. These findings challenge existing views on personal fables and suggest a need to reassess current intervention strategies aimed at adolescents within the TTM framework.
