A Safe and Happy Place

Set against the backdrop of 1967, the story follows 19-year-old Erica "Pooh" Bollinger, who grapples with an unplanned pregnancy and her dissatisfaction with life in New York City. As a sophomore at NYU, she feels overwhelmed by the chaos of the Vietnam War and the absurdities of everyday life. Seeking escape, Pooh learns about Sunrise Village, a commune in Vermont led by the enigmatic "Songbird." Her journey reflects a quest for identity and belonging amidst societal upheaval, blending personal struggles with the countercultural movement of the time.
