More about the book
The study explores China's outward foreign direct investment (OFDI) by distinguishing between push and pull factors. Utilizing panel OLS for pull factors and co-integration methods for push factors, it finds that Asian exports of fundamental products and GDP per person employed positively correlate with OFDI, while regulatory quality negatively impacts it. Key push factors include positive influences from foreign reserves, exchange rates, patents, and wages, while exports and savings rates show negative associations. The analysis highlights the significant role of Chinese policies in boosting OFDI since 2000.
