Focusing on the impact of oxidative stress in Type 2 Diabetes, this study investigates the serum levels of manganese superoxide dismutase and 8-hydroxy-2-deoxyguanosine, alongside dietary antioxidant intake, among African Americans and Haitian Americans. Findings reveal increased oxidative mtDNA damage in individuals with T2D, particularly among African Americans. The study highlights an inverse correlation between dietary antioxidants and oxidative stress, suggesting dietary modifications could help mitigate oxidative stress in diabetes management.
