As he works on their farm, he falls in love with Thérèse and joins the Resistance. After being forced to escape back to England, he becomes a bomber pilot but is shot down and falls into a coma. Awakening years later with no memory of his past, he resumes life as a professor, until a chance encounter reignites memories of his family and wartime experiences.
