We often hear that David was a man after God’s own heart. However, how can that be when David ordered a man loyal to him killed to cover up his crime of seducing the man’s wife? Was lust the root cause of David’s great sin? In Mr. Hawkins’ commentary on II Samuel, we see that David’s sin originated in his heart long before he stood on his roof and peered down at the bathing Bathsheba.
