More about the book
This story came to me when I noticed two Buskers on the street in London. I was sitting in Euston Station having a drink in a bar waiting for my train to take me back to Wales.Alongside the boy and girl was a street artist who had no connection at all to the others, he was quietly drawing faces that passed by, and had quite an audience. I noticed how quickly he sketched, therefore, as fast as he drew the more money he made, and so I went across to W H Smiths and bought a small writing pad to take notes. I had no idea what I wanted to jot down on my writing pad but there was something about the three neighbours that stood alongside each other maybe their unkempt hippy look compelled me to make notes. Distracted for a moment I left my briefcase on the floor and crossed over to Greg’s the Bakery, then a policeman came running after me to ask if the bag was mine, no one had touched it and I was an object of an alert as it might contain a bomb. After a brief explanation that they were just orders and invoices, I picked up my bag and was about to walk away when the young girl singer bumped into me, her hazy/tired eyes met mine, and just then I saw the character Mel.That was many years ago, and the memory and notes were stored. So this inspired me to write this short story, Was It Me
