In nearly all cultures, ancient and modern, stories evolve, intending to serve as a moral compass to help teach the young and guide them on a true passage into adulthood. Apache culture is no different. Mothers and fathers can speak to their children, admonishing them about respect and traditions. But there is always that one child who will inevitably challenge a parent's authority and teaching. The Legend of the Crown Dancers is such a story. It tells about one young girl determined to seek the wrong path for selfish reasons and the terrible repercussions not only for her but also for the entire tribe for generations to come.
