More about the book
They Refused to Fight is a multigenerational story of the Ebel family. Two young boys were sent alone from Germany to The Ukraine. They grew up, built a home and family, and became comfortable in their segregated community. The Russian aristocracy and the communist unions began to revolt and the Germans living in The Ukraine became a political liability. Every part of their lifestyle changed and Russia was systematically pushing the Germans out. The story is based on real people and their struggle to survive. It is about convictions, hope, and perseverance.
