Starting his journey in 1884 from San Francisco on a distinctive penny-farthing bike, he traveled 3,700 miles, engaging with various bike clubs before reaching Boston. His adventure continued across Europe and Asia after boarding a steamer to Liverpool. The letters he wrote during this epic journey were later compiled into a two-volume set, capturing his experiences and the spirit of exploration.
