Mistress Branican

Set in March 1875, the story follows Dolly Branican, the young wife of Captain John Branican, whose ship, the Franklin, disappears en route to Kolkata. Despite years of despair and personal tragedy, including the loss of her first son and her own near-death experiences, Dolly clings to the hope that her husband is alive. Driven by determination, she uses her inheritance to fund search expeditions, believing she can find him. The narrative explores themes of perseverance, love, and the lengths one will go to for family.
