This book, "They Hear Through Their Eyes," is designed to help the professional, either deaf or hearing, who works with persons who are Deaf to identify the signs and symptoms of substance abuse and help those individuals break through their own denial systems. It is an excellent resource for educational programs preparing professionals to work in the field including administrators, counselors, doctors, interpreters, mental health aides, nurses, social workers and therapists. Often done in group sessions supplemented by one-on-one counseling sessions, a unique treatment option, "The Support Team," is presented as one model facilitating self-analysis which enhances the client's ability to make that breakthrough.
