More about the book

A visceral, true telling of life growing up with an abusive mother, a hard-working father, and four siblings who I leaned upon to overcome depression, immense sorrow, and crippling guilt. Through my experiences, I've learned that everyone has a story. Everyone deals with hardships and obstacles and losses and failures. And too often, people use these traumatic events as excuses to give up and not try to be the best version of themselves possible. I thought about giving up on myself, about quitting and allowing myself to be enveloped by destructive emotions and things I couldn't control. My story delves into all that I faced, the choices I had to make, and the life lessons I learned along the way.
