The story about Shurm, the young Scorpion scribe of Sumer, was written more than fi ve decades ago. Th e manuscript unpublished remained in its folder, lately in a briefcase. At the urgings of an erudite daughter, the author is now presenting Shurm and his world in print. If some facts do not ring true with scholars of Sumer, the author apologizes. Doubtless, more is being learned every day by linguists and archeologists about this early country and its amazing contributions to society. Did Shurm really live in a country called Sumer? You bet! In the author's imagination.
