In a universe dominated by certain surrealism and courageous adventurers, mysticism and unknown forces, fierce wars and tranquil moments, will two survivors of the fall of an empire shape the fate of the cosmos, or will they fall prey to the cold, unfeeling depths of the void? Zayle Kortan, a survivor of the Morgai assault on Raal, and Eva Hurin, a pilot in one of the Archon Union's many Stryker squadrons, are bonded together by a mysterious force known as the Aether, the thing that flows through the universe and gives it its life. They are the last of a long line of beings known as the Ronin, those who manipulate the Aether to their whim. Bira, the center of the universe is awakened, and must be put back to sleep before the cataclysm begins.
