Eliza Smith is a young girl living in an Australian gold field in the 1800's. She writes about her life at the gold field in her diary. Things aren't going as well as she had hoped when gold becomes scarce as new people move into the gold field. Eliza becomes friends with three girls who are very different from her, each with their own story. They have many adventures together, from escaping bush rangers to finding treasure.
