More about the book

This volume compiles invited papers and selected contributions from the COST 2102 International Workshop on “Verbal and Nonverbal Communication Behaviours,” held in Vietri sul Mare, Italy, from March 29–31, 2007. Organized by the Faculty of Science and the Faculty of Psychology of the Second University of Naples, along with the International Institute for Advanced Scientific Studies “Eduardo R. Caianiello” (IIASS), the workshop focused on the fundamentals of verbal and nonverbal communication features and their connections to personal identification, socio-cultural backgrounds, and individual traits. Sponsored by the COST Action 2102 in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and the organizing institutions, the event gathered diverse research communities from psychology and computational sciences. These groups have sought to characterize human behavior in face-to-face communication through various features, exploring relationships among facial expressions, prosodic voice quality, communication modes, cultural differences, and individual variations. The discussions also addressed stable personality traits, degrees of expressiveness, and the identification of interlocutors' emotional and psychological states, contributing to a deeper understanding of communication dynamics.
