Nude Photographs

This amazing compilation covers 26 years (1980–2005) in the artistic life of Thomas Karsten. Featuring a handful of models repeatedly—mostly women with a few couples and families—the study allows observations of how the artist's models and methods change over time. Everything about these photographs is the point of view, the shapes of the models' bodies, and even the evolving way the subjects move and stand while they are being photographed. Arranged in chronological order, these portraits can be read like a novel, giving the passage of time an immediate, palpable, and magical quality.
