První díl trilogie vzpomínek nakladatele Otakara Štorcha-Mariena. Počátky Aventina. Kniha vzpomínek zakladatele a majitele jednoho z největších a nejúspěšnějších nakladatelství z první republiky – Aventina, o níž autor přiznává: „Má trochu provokativní název, ale sled let v ní líčených opravňuje k tomuto titulu... V třetím roce universitních studií jsem se stal nakladatelem ... našel jsem zázračný cíl života: vydávat knihy a množit jimi krásu světa ... Bylo to opojné a závratné. Znal jsem se s mnoha vynikajícími lidmi, jezdil jsem po světě, v Paříži jsem byl jako doma ... O všem tom píšu ve svých pamětech. Nejsou to žádné oficiální portréty, jsou to intimní vzpomínky na lidi z oblasti kultury, s nimiž jsem se znal, s nimiž jsem pracoval, které jsem poznal.“ Kniha zahrnuje období od r. 1919 do r. 1927. O dalších letech své nakladatelské činnosti chystá autor druhý díl vzpomínek pod jménem Ohňostroj.
