Liu Xinwu

Liu Xinwu stands as a prominent Chinese author, recognized as one of the earliest voices of the post-Maoist literary wave. His work, frequently set against the backdrop of Beijing, centers on the lives of common people and those dwelling on society's margins. His early short fiction was groundbreaking in its critique of the excesses of the Cultural Revolution, aligning him with the 'scar literature' movement. Beyond his fictional narratives, Liu Xinwu is also deeply engaged in the study of the classic Chinese novel Dream of the Red Chamber, where he pioneers a distinct and sometimes controversial approach known as 'Qin studies.'
