      Aleksandr Ivanovich Kuprin rodilsya 7 sentyabrya 1870 goda v gorode Narovchat Penzenskoj gubernii. Uchilsya snachala v kadetskom korpuse, a zatem v Aleksandrovskom uchilische. V 1890 byl zachislen v pehotnyj polk, v kotorom prosluzhil 4 goda. Vyjdya v otstavku, poselilsya v Kieve, pozdnee pereehal v Peterburg. Pervyj svoj rasskaz "Poslednij debyut" Kuprin opublikoval v 1889 godu v "Russkom satiricheskom listke". Pozdnee on sotrudnichal s gazetami "Zhizn' i iskusstvo" i "Kievskoe slovo". Priehav v Peterburg, Kuprin stanovitsya redaktorom snachala "Zhurnala dlya vseh", a pozdnee "Mira Bozh'ego". V Peterburge pisatel' publikuet svoi naibolee izvestnye "Poedinok", "Granatovyj braslet".
