Rod Stewart

Rod Stewart became known in the Sixties and Seventies as a jet-setting bon vivant and blond sex symbol with a voice that was both grizzled and buoyant. While he tasted fame with the Jeff Beck Group and later the Faces, Stewart's most significant commercial success arrived as a solo artist. After initially earning critical acclaim for his unerring selection of cover material, Stewart began to gravitate towards self-mocking (or simply cheesy) songs in the late Seventies. Although he didn't always maintain exacting quality control, Stewart's self-mocking charm and seemingly effortless singing have consistently kept him popular. His distinctive approach to storytelling, blending moody folk songs with soulful reinterpretations of R&B and rock, showcases a unique artistic sensibility.
