Kálmán Mikszáth

    January 16, 1847 – May 28, 1910

Kálmán Mikszáth was a Hungarian novelist and journalist who masterfully navigated between humor and social commentary. While his early short stories depicting the lives of common people initially lacked appeal, they revealed his talent for crafting humorous anecdotes. He honed these skills in his later, more popular works, which often featured social critique and satire. Towards the end of his life, his writing increasingly focused on criticizing the aristocracy and what he perceived as their detrimental impact on Hungarian society.
