More about the book

The international conference on Intelligent Information Processing and Web Mining, held in Gdańsk-Sobieszewo from June 13-16, 2005, continued a long-standing tradition of exploring the applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Information Systems (IS). Organized by the Institute of Computer Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences in collaboration with various scientific and business institutions, the event showcased the Institute's commitment to research in AI and IS, recognized as a leading entity in Poland for both fundamental and applied research. Initiated by Prof. M. Dąbrowski and Dr. M. Michalewicz in 1992, the conference aimed to unite scientists and industry professionals from diverse fields, fostering a creative synthesis of ideas. Researchers from five continents contributed to the conference, highlighting the international collaboration present. The selected research papers, approximately 45% of submissions, either stemmed from practical applications or addressed specific requests. This volume features the best papers, reflecting the quality of work presented. Special thanks are extended to the members of the Programme Committee for their efforts, as well as to the organizers of the accompanying special sessions.
