More about the book

This volume features selected papers from the International Conference on Intelligent Information Processing and Web Mining, held in Ustroń, Poland, from June 19-22, 2006. Organized by the Institute of Computer Science of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the event continued a series initiated in 1992 by Prof. M. Dąbrowski and Dr. M. Michalewicz. It targeted professionals engaged in Artificial Immune Systems (AIS), biologically inspired methods, Computational Linguistics (CL), Web technologies (WT), and Knowledge Discovery (KD), focusing on the interactions among these fields. The submitted papers explored new computing paradigms, including biologically motivated methods, advanced data analysis, machine learning innovations, natural language processing, and novel optimization technologies. They also addressed applied data mining through statistical and non-standard approaches. The contributions provide insights into a diverse array of applications for intelligent systems, spanning operating system design, network security, multimedia information extraction, financial market analysis, medicine, and geoscience. Despite a high volume of submissions, only about 40% were accepted following a rigorous review process.
