The contemporary debate about truth between deflationists and robust theorists centers around the question of whether truth has an underlying essence. This book advances this discussion by arguing that both Davidson and Heidegger have similar and complementary theories of truth not readily subsumed under traditional headings. By developing key aspects of each philosopher’s theory, a new theory of truth is revealed that occupies the middle ground in the current debate.
