More about the book
Michael Psellus (died around 1078) revived philosophy in Byzantium. His commentaries on Aristotle ushered in a new era in the Byzantinian conflict with ancient natural philosophy. For Psellus, the commentary on ‹Physik‹ (Physics) was the prerequisite for studying natural philosophy and the basis for the Byzantinian answer to the challenge arising from contemporary Arabic science and its important representatives Avicenna and Alhazen.
