Rae Armantrout, born in 1947, is a significant voice in contemporary US poetry, associated with the Language School. Her work reflects the experimental traditions of poets like Williams and Ashbery, using short stanzas and charged language to explore postmodern life. A selection of her poetry has been translated by Matthias Göritz and Uda Strätling, with a foreword by Marjorie Perloff.
